3 Steps In Product Marketing To Sell Your Digital Products

I’ve analyzed 100s of marketing funnels in the past 15 months

And the most successful funnels all follow these 3 main steps

Here’s the 3 product marketing strategies that make people millions$$

Step 1: Social Media Marketing

The first step in marketing your products is to make sure people see your content. Social media is arguably the most powerful tool for achieving this, but it requires more than just posting randomly. Here's how you can get started:

Get People to See Your Content

Consistently post valuable content that resonates with your audience. Think of attention-grabbing headlines, compelling visuals, and engaging stories that reflect your brand’s voice. Make sure your posts are shareable and encourage engagement.

Get People to Visit Your Profile

When people visit your profile, they want to learn more about what you do and specifically know if you’re worth following. Your profile needs to be clean, professional, and appealing. Make sure your bio message clarifies your value proposition, your profile picture is clear, and your top content is easy to find (pinned tweet). This is your first impression, so you need to make it count.

Get People to View Your Pinned Tweet or Link in Bio

Direct your audience to your most important content. Whether it’s a pinned tweet or the link in your bio, it should lead them straight to your product or a lead magnet. This is where you can capture their interest and guide them further down your sales funnel.

Step 2: Product Marketing aka Landing Page

Once you've grabbed their attention on social media, you need to bridge them to a landing page that seals the deal. Here’s what you need to craft a killer landing page:

Hit Them with a Clear Title

Your headline should instantly communicate what your product is and why they need it. Be clear, concise, and compelling. Your title should make them think, "This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!"

Write Copy That Speaks to Their Soul

Understand your audience's pain points and desires. Your copy should make them feel understood and show them how your product can solve their problems. Use persuasive language that connects emotionally with your readers and addresses their needs.

Use a Clear CTA

Don’t leave them guessing. Tell them exactly what you want them to do next, whether it’s Buy Now, Sign Up, or Download. Your call to action should be straightforward and easy to follow.

Step 3: Funnel Marketing

Now that your customer is in buy mode, you want to make your upsell offers. You basically have four chances of increasing the average order value before your customer leaves.

  • Upsell with order bumps

  • Down sell with order bumps

  • Upsell on thank you pages

  • Upsell through email marketing

Upsells

During checkout, ask your customer if they would like to upgrade to a premium product or include some add-ons. This is like fast food restaurants asking if you want to add cookies or upgrade to a large meal.

Downsell

When customers decline your upsell, you have one more shot before purchase to pitch a down-sell product. That means you should pitch a lower-priced product add-on that still compliments the product they are already buying.

Upsell on Your Thank You Page

The thank you page is 100% always going to be seen every time someone buys. After they’ve made a purchase, offer them a complementary product or an upgraded version of what they just bought. This is a great way to increase your average order value with minimal effort.

Use this opportunity to pitch another product, that funnels deeper and closer to your high ticket products. You can also warm them up to who you are, and what you truly offer with a video.

Upsell Through Email Marketing Funnels

Keep the relationship going. Send your customers valuable content and offers through email to encourage repeat purchases. A well-crafted email funnel can nurture your customers and turn them into loyal fans. This is one most people sleep on, but it has the greatest return on your marketing efforts.

The Two-Step Reality

Realistically, you only need two steps to make a sale: social media marketing and a killer landing page. But if you want to sell higher-ticket products, you need to warm your audience up to it. This is where funnel marketing can make a big difference.

But it all starts with building an audience and bridging them to your landing page.
